Responsibilities & Duties

  • Assist heavy equipment operators with attachments.
  • Perform general maintenance of construction equipment and vehicles.

  • Dig pits, trenches, and foundations in preparation for job site construction.
  • Clean, lubricate, and fill fluids on equipment.

  • Use hazardous disposal techniques.

  • Operate different types of equipment to safely load and unload machinery and materials.
  • Tie down and secure equipment and/or goods in compliance with safety regulations.

  • Haul gravel, water, fuel, crusher equipment, small construction equipment, camp gear, and related materials.
  • Tie down and properly secure loads in compliance with safety regulations.
  • Maintain paperwork relating to time records, pre-trip inspections, and driver logs.
  • Keep accurate records of materials and products transported.
  • Ensure weigh scale tickets are properly completed and signed by customers whenever possible.
  • Back semi-trailers into bins for loading and into pockets for unloading.
  • Back semi-trailers into truck chutes for loading and loading pockets for unloading.
  • Follow safe working procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Good communication skills.
  • Valid Class 1 driver's license. A commercial driver abstract is required.

  • Supervise, coordinate and schedule the activities for all Mine Site Operations.
  • Manage day-to-day contract work and other work requests on the mine site.
  • Monitor production rates to ensure projects are on target for safety, budget and schedule.
  • Ensure adherence to Smook Contractors policies and procedures.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture and support effective corrective actions.
  • Manage the safety program through identification of job site safety concerns.

  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in the construction industry; surface mining experience considered an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work well with all personnel.
  • Working knowledge of the Mines and Regulations Act and Workplace Safety and Health Act considered an asset.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Proactive and innovative thinker.
  • Ability to adapt to changing work environments.

Overview

We are actively recruiting for an experienced, results-driven Class 3 Water Truck Driver to join our Base & Grading Crew. Responsibilities & Duties

  • Perform daily pre-trip inspections on water truck and water pumps.
  • Check and fill all fluids as required daily, keep equipment clean, and lubricate equipment as required. Some routine maintenance may be required.
  • Communicate with supervisor, motor grader operator, and other site personnel to ensure priorities for water distribution are understood.
  • Safely fill the water truck tank by hooking up water hoses and operating water transfer pumps as required.
  • Operate on-board pumps, valves, and spray heads (front/rear/water cannons) from the cab to apply even water coverage as instructed by the motor grader operator.
  • Follow safe working procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements, Education, Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities

  • Good communication skills.
  • Valid Class 3 license with air endorsement and ability to operate a manual transmission.
  • Ability to solve problems, think critically, and make decisions.
  • Ability to successfully clear a security check along with alcohol and drug testing prior to employment and throughout employment if required by the project site.
  • Willingness to learn.
  • Basic mechanical skills are considered an asset.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Provide support to the Project Manager and other site supervision personnel on various administrative and technical tasks.
  • Gather, maintain, and file project documentation.
  • Review, input, and submit daily timesheets for all project staff.
  • Maintain job diaries and project photo logs.
  • Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports consistent with contract deliverables.
  • Assist with scheduling employees arriving and departing from site, including coordination of travel and accommodations.
  • Attend project site meetings as required.
  • Assist the project supervision team in preparing project documents such as RFIs, COs, and related documentation.
  • Prepare and update project schedules with an emphasis on maintaining the project's critical path.
  • Maintain fuel logs.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures.

Requirements, Education, Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities

  • Valid driver's license.
  • Previous experience working in the construction industry, specifically mining or earthworks, is considered an asset.
  • Ability to successfully clear a security check along with alcohol and drug testing prior to employment and throughout employment if required by the project site.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word & Outlook.
  • Experience with scheduling software such as MS Project or equivalent.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Strong time management, organizational, and task management abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Capable of working in a fast-paced environment that is constantly changing and able to quickly adapt to last-minute priority adjustments.
